Man Shot In Newark, Police Say

A man was shot in Newark on the evening of Monday, May 27, authorities said.

What may or may not have happened wasn't yet clear.

At 8:09 p.m., police responded to McCarter Highway and Clay Street and found an adult man who had been shot, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said.

The victim was transported to University Hospital and is in stable condition, Fragé said.

The shooting remains under investigation.
